Proactive Maintenance, Maximum Uptime
To ensure the long-term reliability and performance of every motionRig, we are rolling out a new internal diagnostic feature: Actuator Health Tracking. This system is designed to move beyond fixed-interval maintenance schedules by providing real data on the mechanical condition of the rig. It allows us to detect the earliest signs of wear and address them proactively, maximizing the operational life of your hardware.
How It Works: Tracking Torque Over Time
The principle is straightforward. The system runs a standardized, repeatable test cycle, moving the platform through its range of motion under a consistent load. During this test, our firmware records the precise average and peak torque required from each actuator motor to complete the movements. This data creates a baseline performance signature for the rig when it's in optimal condition.
Over months and years of operation, factors like lubricant degradation or contamination from dust and humidity can increase mechanical friction in the actuator ball screws. This forces the motors to work harder to perform the same task. Our health tracking system detects this as a small but steady increase in the required torque compared to the initial baseline. The system logs this trend, flagging which specific actuator is beginning to show signs of increased friction.
From Data to Action
Instead of guessing when maintenance is needed, this system provides concrete evidence. A consistent upward trend in torque for a specific motor allows our support team or the owner to schedule targeted maintenance, such as cleaning and re-lubricating an actuator, before the increased friction can lead to premature wear or component failure. This data-driven approach ensures your motionRig maintains its crisp, responsive feel and protects your investment for years to come.
